Beyond the Balance: Reclaiming Women’s Mental Health

The Junior League of Billings is proud to announce Beyond the Balance: Reclaiming Women’s Mental Health, a new community seminar series dedicated to providing accessible, evidence-based education on women’s mental wellbeing. Presented in association with Every Woman. All Things., the Association of Junior Leagues International’s signature initiative, the series brings licensed clinical providers together to address the mental health challenges women face every day and connect participants with trusted local resources. Women today are navigating increasingly complex roles as professionals, caregivers, community leaders, partners, parents, and advocates. The invisible mental load that accompanies those responsibilities can contribute to burnout, anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and other health concerns. At the same time, many women face barriers to accessing mental health care, whether because of cost, availability, stigma, or uncertainty about where to begin. Beyond the Balance was created to help bridge that gap. Each session features licensed clinical providers and mental health professionals from respected local organizations who will share practical, research-informed information in an approachable community setting. Participants will leave with a better understanding of common mental health challenges, practical tools they can apply in their daily lives, and knowledge of local resources available when additional support is needed. Rather than simply raising awareness, the series is designed to empower women with credible information while creating opportunities for connection, conversation, and early intervention. “The invisible, unpaid mental load that women carry every day has profound consequences on their emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing,” said Shelby Ryann Dolezal, President of the Junior League of Billings. “Through this series, we’re bringing together licensed experts from our own community to make mental health education more accessible, reduce stigma, and help women understand that support is available. An Evening of Classical Guitar with Peter Fletcher

Peter Fletcher is an American classical guitarist based in Detroit and New York City and a graduate of the Eastman School of Music. His recordings on the Centaur Records and Towerhill Recordings labels have been critically acclaimed. His audience friendly, solo recital runs the gamut from the Renaissance Period through the 20th Century. Following his recital tour, Peter will be appearing at Carnegie Hall on April 10th, 2027. His program features Bach’s “Third Lute Suite” and “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”; “Suite Española” by Gaspar Sanz; the exciting “Grand Solo Op 14” by Fernando Sor and Spanish guitarist and composer Francisco Tárrega’s extraordinarily beautiful “Capriccio Arabe”. Peter is especially excited to perform “Simple Gifts”, a Traditional Shaker Hymn arranged for guitar by guitarist Christopher Parkening. The concert will culminate with Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz’s “Córdoba” and “Leyenda” from Cantos de España, arranged by Fletcher from piano to classical guitar. After a few messages and phone calls, Mark was on a plane to the US to start a band (a few months later, he had the flight number tattooed on his arm). Since then, Raynes has signed with Sony Music Publishing and released six singles and four EPs, drawing hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners and tens of millions of streams and earning press in Billboard and People. Screw that. I’ll tell it in my own words.   I was born & raised In Chicago, Illinois. I grew up on the south side of the city where I attended a gospel church. I was always around a lot of heartfelt soulful music & hardworking, real, down to earth people. Although I no longer abide by any religion, I value the times I had and how they shaped me to be what I am now.   I’ve moved around quite a bit living in all different parts of the US. While absorbing all sorts of different cultures from here & around the world, I’ve developed my own sound.   I started releasing my own music in 2012 and haven’t stopped since. I play a wide range of music from folk to blues, r&b, Gospel to rock, metal & alotta things in between. The main constant amongst all the genres would be that it’s all done with emotion, feeling, heart & a lotta soul. I mean what I say & deeply feel what I play.   I play covers of songs I dig sometimes and although some people may only know me because of those, I’m hardly just a cover artist.   If you come see me play live and expect just one style or aspect of what I do, you may be disappointed to learn that our shows are a roller coaster of emotions, musical styles, intensity & energy. I get bored easily & love to mix things up. Be ready & bring your ear plugs just in case..   I’ve always been the underdog so to speak since I’ve never had the backing of a large record label, big marketing firm or massive PR company & I truly like it that way. I feel as though I’ve earned what I have through hard work, determination, a good bit of luck & the great relationships with people I’ve made along the way. I’ve learned a lot of lessons the hard way being in this “music business industry” and that’s alright by me. I’ve seen that with your support (the listeners out there) I can make my wildest dreams come true.   If you want to listen to an artist that’s authentic, genuine & original then you’ve come to the right place. Downtown Trick-or-Treat, hosted by the Downtown Billings Association, has been a popular and safe Halloween alternative for the Billings community for 24 years. This free community event brings thousands of children in costume downtown to trick or treat at over 50 participating businesses that offer candy, healthy treats, and unique Halloween themes or activities. This fun event has grown over the years and has become a popular event for day cares, schools, and families. The Downtown Billings (DBA) office at 102 N 29th St., operates as headquarters for the event and provides maps of the route and trick or treat bags for kiddos. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
