Ed Boyce and the Western Federation of Miners, with Cole R. Costello
JUN 6
Event 1:00 PM

Ed Boyce and the Western Federation of Miners, with Cole R. Costello

Join us for a fascinating discussion on labor and Montana history with University of Montana PhD student, Cole R. Costello. When Irish immigrant and former Populist Ed Boyce was elected president of the Western Federation of Miners in 1896, he began to transform the organization from a loose affiliation of local mining unions to a bastion of radicalism, encouraging Socialist ideals and encouraging workers to arm themselves. Boyce's personal direction of the union created national fissures with groups such as the American Federation of Labor, inspired later organizations such as Bill Haywood's Industrial Workers of the World, and forced confrontations about trade versus industrial unionism around the country. Using Boyce’s personal papers and other accounts of his presidency, Costello explores the lasting impact of this controversial organizer's legacy in Ed Boyce and the Western Federation of Miners.

Eli Young Band with special guest Jeffrey East
JUN 10
Event 8:00 PM

Eli Young Band with special guest Jeffrey East

Please join us for Eli Young Band with special guest Jeffrey East on Wednesday, June 10th in the Pub Station Ballroom.      ABOUT ELI YOUNG BAND What goes around comes around, and nearly 25 years since their founding in Denton, Texas, multi-Platinum country band Eli Young Band have come home.  Led by an unmistakable vocal and bringing a Texas-rock edge to modern country, the never-changing lineup of Mike Eli, James Young, Jon Jones, and Chris Thompson have spent two-plus decades on the run, growing from hometown heroes into globe-trotting, chart-topping pioneers. Yet in all that time, EYB never forgot its raising, and today the foursome reclaim the spirit behind their success.  Returning to their independent roots, the bold creative defiance that launched them into the mainstream – and in many ways to their old stomping grounds – it’s a new chapter driven by experience and a million miles of wisdom, from a band of brothers still very much in their prime. “We started this thing when we were like 20 years old, and it’s been such a crazy road and such a longer road than any of us could have conceptualized at the time,” says Jones. “I think right now feels a little full circle, in a really nice way.” “Now, we get to step back into our Texas shoes,” Eli agrees. “I think this new stuff finds us reaching deep into our past as a band. We’re remembering where the magic was – all those songs we wanted to record for our Level record, that felt way too edgy for Country Radio at the time.” Indeed, after becoming icons of Texas’ vibrant college-bar scene – and then packing arenas all over the state (without label support) – that Level album from 2005 landed like a live wire, injecting EYB into the mainstream. They followed in 2008 with their Gold-certified breakout “Always the Love Songs” and Jet Black & Jealous, one of three career Billboard Top 5 albums which include the Number One 10,000 Towns and Platinum Life At Best.  Likewise, back-to-back Number One singles came with the 5X Platinum “Crazy Girl” in 2011 and 3X Platinum “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” (2012), plus the Platinum Number One “Drunk Last Night” and 2X Platinum Number One “Love Ain’t” after that. All along they kept the intensity of their live shows front and center, and with a following which now includes more than 1.4 million Facebook followers, 2.2 million monthly Spotify listeners and more, it’s time to get back to the point.  Ready to follow up 2022’s Love Talking, the band have returned to Panhandle House Studio in their hometown of Denton – the same studio where Level was born – bringing new tunes and new excitement along with them. All co-written as a band or with long-trusted collaborators, a fresh batch of songs return EYB to the raw, grassroots energy and emotional sting of their early work, geared for the stage and recorded without digital tricks.         Etix is the ONLY authorized ticketing agent outside of Pub Station box office. Pictograph Cave State Park Tour

Pictograph Cave State Park Tour

Pictograph Cave State Park is one of Montana's most ancient homes, where people left their mark in paint upon the cave wall. It is in that spirit that we will take a hike into Pictograph Cave and learn about those who came before, and in the picnic area we will leave our own (temporary) chalk markings on the sidewalks, just like the Native Americans who called this place home for thousands of years. We will be meeting at the Pictograph Cave State Park located at 3401 Coburn Rd. Billings, MT 59101. Be dressed for the weather as we will be hiking to see the Cave!

Micky and the Motorcars with special guest Jeff Crosby
JUN 11
Event 8:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Micky and the Motorcars with special guest Jeff Crosby

Please join us for Micky and the Motorcars with special guest Jeff Crosby on Thursday, June 11th in the Pub Station Taproom.      ABOUT MICKY AND THE MOTORCARS For a handful of summers about 30 years ago, tourists who wandered into a large dancehall in Stanley, Idaho, witnessed a family tradition finding new life. Young and old sat shoulder-to-shoulder, taking a break from the town’s mountain hikes and river campgrounds to take in Muzzie Braun and the Boys––a local family band who’d made it to the Grand Ole Opry, effortlessly spouted cowboy poetry and Western swing at gatherings around the country, and featured Muzzie’s four young sons––precocious boys with rock-and-roll futures. “There were kids running around, people dancing,” says Micky Braun, the youngest brother who first climbed on stage to join the family when he was about five years-old. “Gary and I’d get up and play a couple of songs, then we’d get off and the older brothers would stay up and play a couple more. It’s pretty funny, looking back on it.” He laughs a little, then adds, still smiling, “That’s how we got started playing.” The Braun brothers never stopped. Big brothers Cody and Willy started Reckless Kelly, and Micky and Gary left Idaho for Austin and started Micky and the Motorcars, a road-dogging favorite whose nonstop tour for the last 17 years has defined not just the lives of the brothers, but also shaped Austin’s roots-rock resurgence that has played out over the last two decades. With their anticipated new album Long Time Comin’, the Motorcars cement their place as elder statesmen of that alt-country scene who have managed to master that ever-elusive blend of artistic familiarity and surprise. “I hope people take the time to hear the album as a whole, and I hope they like it,” Gary says from his home in Austin. “I think this one is a little bit better.” He pauses and laughs as he drawls, “So I hope they like it a little more.” For the Motorcars, the question is never really whether to tour but where to play next. Gary––who handles guitar, mandolin, harmonica, harmonies, and occasionally lead vocals––and Micky, lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist, are joined in the Motorcars by Andy Carrell on bass, Bobby Paugh on drums and percussion, and new bandmate Pablo Trujillo on guitar. The combination of familiar and fresh players has reinvigorated the Motorcars’ live show, which buzzes through a low-key rock-and-roll rapture built on grooves and the Brauns’ signature harmonies. A mix of new and old also shaped the Long Time Comin’ recording process. Produced by Keith Gattis, the 11-song album relied in part on Gattis’ go-to Nashville studio players––a first for the Motorcars. “It still sounds like Micky and the Motorcars, but it was fun working with different guys who we’d never worked with before,” Micky says. “They’ve been Keith’s band for 15 years. He can say, ‘Give me a shuffle with a boom-chuck,’ and they know what he’s talking about.”         Etix is the ONLY authorized ticketing agent outside of Pub Station box office. Event 1:00 PM

Internet Safety for Tweens & Teens

Join us as we host Rebecca Leary with the FBI, Billings Division, and Officer Dave Nienhuis with Billings PD, SRO for Ben Steele Middle School, for a discussion on internet safety and how to protect your tweens and teens from numerous online threats. With the school year soon ending, the months of summer will afford many tweens and teens ample opportunities to spend time online. Many parents and guardians, though, despite their best efforts, will be unable to continuously monitor the content their young ones are exposed to. An awareness and understanding of the potential threats and dangers that specifically target these young adults, then, is key, along with a healthy discussion facilitated by experts in internet safety. Billings Public Library gladly invites you to be a part of such a discussion, Saturday June 13, from 1-2:30PM. This program is intended for tweens, teens, and adults. We recommend younger children do not attend the program due to potential discussions on mature topics.

Event 8:00 PM

CHRISTOPHER CROSS with special guest AUSTIN JENCKES

Please join us for Christopher Cross with special guest Austin Jenckes on Sunday, June 14th in the Pub Station Ballroom. Please note, this show is general admission seated.    ABOUT CHRISTOPHER CROSS:  Christopher Cross burst onto the music scene with his 1980 self-titled debut album, winning five Grammy Awards, including—for the first time in Grammy history—the “Big Four” most prestigious awards: Record of the Year (for the single “Sailing”), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (also “Sailing”), and Best New Artist.    In a career spanning more than four decades, Cross has sold over 10 million albums. His music has garnered five Grammys, an Oscar, a Golden Globe, an Emmy nomination and five Top 10 singles.    Within a year of the first album’s release, Cross joined music royalty Burt Bacharach to write “Arthur’s Theme,” for the movie Arthur, which won an Academy Award for Best Song. With his 1983 release, Another Page, Cross was again in the Top 10 with the singles “All Right” and “Think of Laura.” His song, “Swept Away,” composed for the hit television series, Growing Pains, was nominated for an Emmy.    Cross started his own label and, since 2007, has released 8 albums of new material, including A Christopher Cross Christmas and The Café Carlyle Sessions, jazz treatments of hits and favorites born out of a residency at the famous Hotel Carlyle in New York City. Take Me as I Am, released in 2018,features richly-crafted melodies and elegant guitar work. The latest project for Christopher Cross Records is aptly titled The Complete Works. Released in 2020, it celebrates his 40th anniversary as a recording artist and is a collection of all 12 previously-released CDs, one CD of singles and bonus tracks, and a pink vinyl containing one track from each album chosen by Christopher.    Even though the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the 40 the Anniversary tour, he is once again performing the carefully-crafted songs and music his fans enjoy, starting with “Sailing” and “Ride Like the Wind” from his Grammy-winning debut album and continuing through the decades of his ever-changing but always excellent material. Concert dates can be found on the tour section of his website, www.christophercross.com.    All in all, it’s been quite a ride, one that has taken Cross from his early days in Texas where he once served as a drum tech for Ginger Baker, bought gear from Jimmy Page, and played lead guitar for Deep Purple on a night when Ritchie Blackmore fell ill, to this place as a respected singer-songwriter-guitar player who continues to share his original music with the world.   Christopher Cross Premium Ticket and Merch Package  Premium SeatingExclusive VIP Merchandise PackCommemorative Ticket Merchandise is shipped the week of the show date and may arrive shortly before or after the show date. The Dead South with special guest Amigo The Devil – VENUE UPDATE: NOW at DOWNTOWN BILLINGS SKATE PARK

Please join us for The Dead South with special Guest Amigo The Devil on Wednesday, June 17th.   PLEASE NOTE: This concert is now moved from ZooMontana to the Downtown Billings Skate Park. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new venue.      ABOUT THE DEAD SOUTH:  The Dead South have never been about constant reinvention, but about full commitment to their own singular way. With confidence in their sound and style and trust in each other, The Dead South arrive at the cusp of explosive global success in an enviable, and well-earned, position: total autonomy. It doesn’t really matter what you call their music - progressive bluegrass, alternative Americana, country, folk and western, what matters is that this is theirs, and people from all different backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, languages and ages love it.   True blue right through, The Dead South don’t shy away from ruffling traditionalists’ feathers from time to time, as they flawlessly execute banjo rolls and lightning-fast mandolin tremolos, 3-part harmonies and songs of classic themes -murder ballads, disloyalty, ghosts and the like, all with a wink and a smile. As they continue their climb to the top, The Dead South have learned an important lesson: If you’re going to be outsiders, you’d better be great.   Confirmed by the passion of their Dead South cosplaying fans, who go to concerts in the band’s signature look, this four-piece acoustic set from the middle of the Canadian prairies have found their people. Good Company, as they call themselves, is a global community of vastly dissimilar folks who might not see eye to eye, but who stand shoulder to shoulder at the gigs.         Etix is the ONLY authorized ticketing agent outside of the Pub Station box office. If you purchase tickets from an unauthorized agent in the secondary market (scalper, ticket broker, eBay, Craigslist, etc.), you risk purchasing counterfeit or invalid tickets which may result in refusal of admission.

Corb Lund with special guest Branson Anderson

Please join us for Corb Lund with special guest Branson Anderson on Tuesday, June 23rd in the Pub Station Ballroom.    ABOUT CORB LUND:  A rural Albertan hailing from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with a long family lineage of ranchers and rodeo people, Lund is about as authentic as they come, and equally as hard to define.    The western Canadian singer-songwriter is an elusive artist — onstage, offstage, and in the studio — seamlessly weaving between the outlaw country, Western, and indie-folk realms with an honest curiosity and rowdy devotion to each. He was raised with the tried and true DIY sentiment of “if you want something done, you gotta do it yourself” launching his career recording in his basement, printing his own shirts, booking his own tours, being his own manager and publicist… whatever it took to get it done. He toured for years with the indie-metal band the smalls, and later turned his sights to writing Western songs, creating a unique and quirky hybrid writing style along the way. He has received multiple domestic and international award nominations and wins. In 2022, Lund won his 14th career Canadian Country Music Award and made his debut at the historic Grand Ole Opry. His album of originals, El Viejo, was released in February 2024.     Etix is the ONLY authorized ticketing agent outside of the Pub Station box office. If you purchase tickets from an unauthorized agent in the secondary market (scalper, ticket broker, Facebook Marketplace, etc.), you risk purchasing counterfeit or invalid tickets which may result in refusal of admission.

The Old Ones: Album Release Show with special guests Mopsketo and Apex Crown

Please join us for The Old Ones Album Release show with special guests Mopsketo and Apex Crown on Friday, June 26th in the Pub Station Taproom.    ABOUT THE OLD ONES: Born out of the mud, the blood and the beer of Yellowstone Valley since 2014, three janitors have been committing blasphemy by conjuring The Old Ones. They resurrect the Old Gods via ritual of feedback and vibrations out of their monolithic amps, telling stories of their diabolical campaign. The ravenous thundering and hypnotic rhythms are secured by Benjamin Meyer with the ginger beast Steve Nicol riding atop the storm with the sonorous and powerful bass lines. A wild haired Trevor Stoltenberg straps his instrument of war around his shoulders and prepares for a sonic sojourn into the unknown where perhaps they may conjure what the Ancient Gods hail as The Old Ones…      ABOUT MOPSKETO Mopsketo is a Montana-based band, often described as playing "gooey proggy goodness" or technical, aggressive, and progressive music, with members David Fredrickson (bass), Brandon Griffin (drums), Dustin Buening (guitar), and Ron Bray (guitar/trombone)     ABOUT APEX CROWN Apex Crown rises from the ashes of two former local metal forces, Phantazmagora and ZeninZion. Reuniting Kevin Howey and Kurt Beason on guitar and bass with Evan Joda on vocals and Lyle Buckalew on drums. After more than a decade apart, the four have returned with a renewed purpose, spending the past year redefining their sound and forging some of the most powerful metal of their careers. Built on crushing riffs, driving rhythms, and raw intensity, Apex Crown delivers a sound designed to hit hard and heavy, inspiring crowds to bang heads and raise horns.          Etix is the ONLY authorized ticketing agent outside of Pub Station box office. When purchasing from an unauthorized agent in the secondary market (Stubhub, Facebook Marketplace, etc.), you risk purchasing fake or invalid tickets which may result in refusal of admission.
